About
Belgium's first and most renowned whisky distillery, located in the Hesbaye agricultural region of Wallonia. Founded by Etienne Bouillon, who planted barley on his own farm specifically for whisky production -- making Belgian Owl a true 'grain to glass' operation. The distillery name comes from the owl that nested in the old barn that became the first maturation warehouse. Uses floor-malted Belgian barley and ages in first-fill bourbon casks, producing a light, elegant, fruity single malt that has drawn comparisons to Lowland Scotch. Won 'Best European Single Malt' at the World Whiskies Awards. Bouillon's farming background gives Belgian Owl an agricultural authenticity rare in whisky. The Hesbaye region's rich loess soils produce exceptional barley. Belgian Owl proved that great whisky can come from the most unlikely places -- including the heartland of beer country.
