About

Spain's iconic whisky distillery, officially Destilerias y Crianza del Whisky, founded in 1958 by Nicomedes Garcia Gomez who studied distilling in Scotland before building Spain's first whisky distillery at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains near Segovia. DYC (pronounced 'deek') is one of Spain's most recognizable spirits brands and has been a cultural fixture for decades. Produces blended whisky (DYC 5, DYC 8) and single malt expressions using both pot and column stills. The continental climate with hot summers and cold winters drives maturation. Acquired by Allied Domecq, then Suntory through the Beam acquisition. DYC 8 and the Pure Malt expression have received international recognition. One of very few whisky distilleries in southern Europe.
