About

The Philippines' oldest continuously operating distillery (established 1852), Destileria Limtuaco has recently entered the whisky category with their 22 Tango whiskies. While historically known for lambanog (coconut spirit) and liqueurs, the company's whisky program represents Southeast Asia's emerging participation in the global whisky movement. The tropical Manila climate drives intense maturation -- spirit and wood interact aggressively in the heat and humidity, producing whiskies that develop quickly. Uses imported malted barley and ages in a combination of bourbon and Philippine wine casks. The 22 Tango range pays homage to the distillery's founding address on Calle Jaboneros 22, Manila. While still nascent, Filipino whisky has potential given the country's large and growing spirits market. Limtuaco's 170+ years of distilling experience provides a strong foundation for quality whisky production.
