The Czech Republic's premier whisky producer. Rudolf Jelinek distillery was founded in 1894 in Vizovice; it acquired the Gold Cock brand and stock in 2006 and began producing new whisky spirit in 2008. Gold Cock whisky originated at Tesetice near Olomouc in 1969, making it the oldest Czech whisky. Modern production uses Arnold Holstein copper pot stills, installed 2013-14. Signature bottling at 49.2% ABV references Vizovice's latitude. Rudolf Jelinek is also the Czech Republic's most famous slivovice (plum brandy) producer. The Gold Cock 12 Year Old is their flagship expression.
