Hercynian Distilling Co. (Elsburn)

One of Germany's most acclaimed whisky distilleries, producing Elsburn single malt in the Harz Mountains. Founded by Robin Fields (British-German) and Alexander Gruel. Three copper pot stills produce an increasingly diverse range including The Journey, The Distillery Edition, and limited cask-strength releases. Known for exceptional Hercynian oak cask maturation — using oak from the ancient Hercynian Forest (Harz) that gives a unique German terroir fingerprint. Has won numerous awards at international competitions. The Elsburn Visitor Experience draws whisky tourists to the Harz region. Capacity expanded significantly from initial 15,000 LPA to current levels as demand grew. The name Hercynian references the Latin name for the vast forest that once covered central Germany.
