About
Switzerland's most celebrated whisky distillery, located in the Emmental region of Canton Bern. Founded by Hans Baumberger and now run by his family, Langatun produces single malt and single cask whiskies that have won numerous international awards including multiple golds at the World Whiskies Awards. Uses Swiss barley malted at local maltings and ages in a variety of casks including ex-bourbon, sherry, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and even Swiss plum brandy casks. The Alpine climate -- cold winters, warm summers -- provides excellent temperature cycling for maturation. The flagship 'Old Deer' single malt is named after Langatun's medieval heraldic symbol. Switzerland's strict quality traditions and Alpine water sources produce exceptionally clean, pure spirits. Langatun has become the benchmark for Swiss whisky and proof that the country's distilling expertise extends beyond schnapps and fruit brandies.
