Lotte Jeju Distillery

Planned whisky distillery by Korean retail and beverage giant Lotte Chilsung Beverage on Jeju Island. Lotte received approval from Jeju in 2022 to convert a former tangerine farm into a whisky distillery. Jeju Island is renowned for having Korea's best quality water sourced from volcanic aquifer springs. A rival project by retail giant Shinsegae was also announced for Jeju in 2022. If completed, this would represent the entry of Korea's largest conglomerates (chaebol) into domestic whisky production. Current construction status unclear as of 2025.
