About

Mountain distillery in the Romansh-speaking Surselva region of Canton Graubünden, near the source of the Rhine River. Orma (Romansh for 'soul') produces single malt using local Graubünden barley at 850m elevation. The parent company Bündner Röteli is a historic Graubünden liqueur maker. Whisky matured in the extreme Alpine conditions — heavy snowfall, sub-zero winters, dry summers — at one of the highest altitudes of any European distillery. Uses small casks (under 100L) for accelerated maturation in the mountain environment. The Rhine source water is among the purest in Europe. A Romansh cultural expression through whisky — one of the most linguistically and geographically distinctive distilleries in the Swiss whisky scene.
