Riachi Winery & Distillery (Athyr Whisky)

Lebanon's oldest winery/distillery, established 1839 by Moses Riachi in Khenchara village at 1,000m altitude with views of Mount Sannine. Whisky production began 2013. Launched 'Athyr' — Lebanon's first single malt whisky — on September 26, 2019 at The Kempinski Hotel, Beirut. Uses local barley from the Bekaa Valley and ages in new Lebanese oak (Quercus libani). Some expressions finished in different wood types. Also produces arak (quintuple distilled with Levantine aniseed, aged 5 years in clay amphoras), grappa, gin, vodka, and wine. Uses copper pot gooseneck stills.
