About
Swiss brewery-distillery in the Bernese Oberland, at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Rugenbräu has brewed beer since 1866 and began whisky production when Swiss grain distillation became legal in 1999 (first distillation 2005). Uses their own brewery's malt wash and matures whisky in the alpine climate at 580m elevation. The iconic mountain setting provides excellent maturation conditions with significant temperature variation. Produces Swiss Highland single malt and special editions. The brewery's 150+ years of malt expertise translates directly into whisky quality. One of the most scenically located whisky producers in the world.
