Three Societies

South Korea's first single malt whisky distillery, founded by Andrew Seo who trained at Heriot-Watt's International Centre for Brewing and Distilling. The brand name Ki One (meaning 'first' in Korean) refers to their flagship whisky. Located in Namyangju near Seoul, Three Societies uses Scottish-style copper pot stills and Korean oak (quercus mongolica) casks alongside ex-bourbon and sherry barrels. The humid Korean climate accelerates maturation, producing a remarkably developed spirit in just a few years. Ki One Single Malt, released in 2021, was the first Korean-produced single malt whisky and received immediate international acclaim, including a gold medal at the IWSC. Represents a new frontier in Asian whisky.
