About
The lesser-known sister brand to Kavalan, Yushan (named after Taiwan's highest peak, Jade Mountain) is produced at Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation's Nantou distillery. While Kavalan dominates international headlines, Yushan represents Taiwan's state-owned whisky production and targets a different market segment. Uses similar subtropical maturation advantages as Kavalan -- the angel's share in Taiwan can reach 5-8% annually compared to 2% in Scotland, driving intense wood interaction and early complexity. Produces both single malt and blended whisky. Won multiple medals at international competitions including the ISC and SFWSC. Provides an interesting contrast to Kavalan's premium positioning, demonstrating that Taiwan's whisky excellence extends beyond a single producer.
